A quick and easy 3 step recipe for creating your own, homemade basil pesto.
I absolutely love adding this homemade sauce to a chicken pasta dish and serving with garlic bread. I’m a sucker for homemade sauces as I just think they taste so much better than the shop bought jar versions. This recipe is so quick and easy to make and I purchased all my ingredients from Aldi, including the fresh basil plant.
Another way you could use the basil pesto would be to spread a generous layer onto some sliced, toasted ciabatta bread and top with chopped tomatoes, red onion, torn basil leaves and fresh mozzarella. Finish with a drizzle of balsamic oil and enjoy! This recipe is perfect for the upcoming summer BBQ months.
Let me know if you recreate this and what you think of it. You can store the pesto in an air tight container in the fridge for up to one week but ours never stays around long enough for that!
